Argos, OL Wayne Smith agree to contract extension
Canadian offensive lineman Wayne Smith and the Argos have reached an agreement on a two-year contract extension, per CFL sources.
The six-foot-two, 302 lbs., 12-year veteran has spent the last four seasons in Toronto.
Smith’s re-signing keeps one valuable non-import offensive lineman with starting experience from hitting the free agent market. He was the No. 1 ranked guard available on 3DownNation’s position-specific list of top possible free agents.
Despite being 36-years-old, keeping No. 52 in double blue was important for the Argos because he’s been able to stay relatively healthy and provide the team with a reliable Canuck big man along the offensive front.
