  1. My friends got tired of hearing me say the Ticats should hire Ptaszek…. Glad it finally happened…

Congrats Stefan… You’ve had great success as Queens OC and Mac’s HC… Thanks for bringing your winning legacy to the Ticats.

Great move Kent… SP will be a future CFL HC…

    Cheers… Snake

Respectfully disagree. If the TC’s were a team for example starting from scratch or on the rise then I would say yes, good choice, allow the coaches to grow with the team. But that is not the case here. TC’s have been oh so close for the past 3 years and what they need is someone with genuine professional football experience and familiarity with the CFL game that can help bump them over the top. Like I commented a few posts back, I sure hope, with everything that has transpired so far, that this is not a season of regression.

      • This late in the off-season the alternative might have been an American coach who has very little familiarity with the Canadian game. Even if that coach had been very experienced in football, that would not have been ideal either. Nor would signing someone who’s been around the league a while and may have his own ideas about what he wants an offense to be.

And don’t forget Ptaszek played the game at the pro level for a few years as well. So he’s not brand new to it.

By most accounts Austin laid the framework for the offense Condell was asked to guide. He had an established relationship with Tommy that certainly helped in that regard. Now he has to build one with Stephan, but he will still be holding the reins and just has to be more of the mentor showing the new OC how the horses need to be led.

On another note, I don’t think it will be that bad to Mac’s program. It puts them in a short-term bind, but that was the case after Greg Marshall left and they eventually found a new guy who re-grew the program. It’s still a solid football school, with supportive administration, and a good reputation. Someone new walking into the head coach position will be starting from an elevated position.

Question is … who is available and will fit the Austen way *and* the as designed offense?

It seems pretty clear that whomever is in the OC position is not going to be designing an offense from scratch.

Who do you see out there that fits better?

Cortez went from hero to unemployed in a short time in Saskatchewan.

  2. Hope he can pick up Austin’s offensive system and gain the head coach’s confidence.

  3. Wonder if OC Ptaszek can fined us a kicker. Good time to bring in Stephan he can be acclimatized at camp.

    *sheesh*

What’s with the rewriting of Ptaszek’s coaching resume to a Queen’s OC from a Laurier OC?

AFAICT … the 3downnation bloggers has been getting this right where for some reason, commentor(s) are getting it wrong. Or is it envy that he did so well as Laurier’s OC?
