Sleepers and value plays for week 16, based on DraftKings pricing are here:
Trevor Harris, QB ($9,500) – Ottawa
He’s baack! What originally looked like a scary injury, only kept the MOP candidate on the shelf for a couple of weeks. Now his receiving corps is totally healthy, and a win in Vancouver on Saturday would give the playoff hopes for defending Grey Cup champs a big boost. We don’t anticipate it will take long to shake the rust off.
Jon Jennings, QB ($9,300) – B.C.
He hasn’t thrown a touchdown in 2 full games. Huh? Yes, that’s true. And he’s far too talented to keep that streak going, while battling for his playoff life. This has the makings of being an air show again, as most games in Vancouver tend to be. A safe bet at that salary.
Tyrell Sutton, RB ($6,200) – Montreal
If there is one thing the Eskimos have done whether win or lose, it is allow a RB to put up a decent outing. At this salary, he’s worth it. The only caution: Trying to predict the Als playbook is about as easy as tying ice cream to a lamp post.
CJ Gable, RB ($6,800) – Edmonton
He debuts with his new squad, and lucky for him against a team who gives up a pile of yards along the ground. CJ may give the sidelines turf the “Terry Williams week 15” treatment with the potential steady dose of touches he could see. Which, as many know, he’s not really used to. His yards per carry is among the best in the CFL, and this could be a big week and a nice salary to boot.
Alex Green, RB ($5,400) – Hamilton
The guy who will be taking over Gable’s role, essentially solidified his starting role by wiping the floor with the stingy Lions run defense 2 weeks ago. At the time, BC had the second ranked defense along the ground but Green didn’t care. He only racked up 140 yards, and the same could be the case on Friday evening in Winnipeg. Even if he doesn’t, that salary is tasty.
Andy Fantuz, SB ($4,400) – Hamilton
He was targeted 6 times in his debut last week, and you can expect for QB Jeremiah Masoli to continue to lean on him. And at that salary, why not give him a shot?
Clarence Denmark, SB ($5,500) – Winnipeg
What’s the clearance, Clarence? The end zone, and it has been for most of the season. Now that he’s taken the spot of Weston Dressler in the offense, his chemistry with Matt Nichols should allow him to have a higher than average outing.
Darvin Adams, WR ($8,200) – Winnipeg
Is Darvin Adams the most underrated, high targeted Wide Receiver in the CFL? His numbers are up there with the Duron Carter’s and the like in the Canadian Football League but for some reason, week after week he flies under the radar. Both teams have something to play for this week, the Bombers trying to clinch a home playoff game and the Ticats fighting to stay alive. Adams’ big frame should cause fits for the Tiger Cats boundary defense.
Brad Sinopoli, SB ($7,300) – Ottawa
Trevor Harris is back, and his second highest targeted receiver should be a busy boy. As the game wears on, Harris may take a shot or two but we’d imagine the high percentage game will ease his shoulder back in. And who better to catch balls across the middle than Brad Sinopoli.
Armanti Edwards, SB ($6,600) – Toronto
Edwards has one of the highest completion percentages for high targeted receivers in the CFL at 79%, and has proved to be a reliable option for Ricky Ray. Although this has the makings of being a defensive battle, Edwards sure hands make him a good option at that salary.
Toronto Argonauts Defense ($4,400)
Kevin Glenn played his best game of the season in 2017 against the Toronto Argonauts, the one that featured the highlight reel catch by Duron Carter and 4 TD’s in total to zero interceptions. Toronto is 5-2 at home, the 2 blemishes being a loss to Calgary and a week 2 stinker to BC. Since then, they’ve been very difficult at BMO Field and could be worth the salary.
That’s it for this week. Use your own judgement when setting your line-up, check a depth chart and keep an eye on last minute roster changes on Twitter.
