Eskimos sign former Chargers QB Eli Jenkins

Edmonton has inked quarterback Eli Jenkins.

The Eskimos added him to their neg list on September 13, 2015.

Jenkins was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2017, but the six-foot-two, 210-pounder was released before training camp after the bolts acquired quarterback Cardale Jones from the Buffalo Bills.

The 23-year-old played NCAA football at Jacksonville State where he was a dual-threat quarterback. Jenkins finished his four-year university career completing 56.5 per cent of his passes for 7,652 passing yards and 47 touchdowns against 27 interceptions while adding 3,796 rushing yards and 42 touchdowns.

  1. Looks like Eskimos are getting James Franklin’s replacement lined up. Appears to have the pedigree from his NCAA stats to be a good 2 deminson CFL QB.

    • ummmm, pickey McGee here is NOT going to be a CFL qb, hmmm over a 50% ratio of ints to TD passes, typical run first and throw in panic kind of guy !!! 5 year starter in NCAA = less then 1700 yrds average per year /// about hmmm 20-240 yrds a game , nothing exceptional , 600 yrds a year rushing , hmmmm again , 60ish per game not earth shattering .

Again… ESL would be a great benefit to your posts. Either that, or get your 5th grade teacher to edit your posts. But glad the CFL is reaching the 10 to 14 year old kids!!

Meanwhile in Saskatchewan we keep getting fed the line that John Murphy has lots of connections.

    • Ummm he does, we have two young qb’s , guys as good as this dude on our roster , we don’t need 7 other guys in camp, ergo see the trade of the rights for Baker Mayfield to Toronto AFTER we got ADAMS in trade !!!!

Maybe you should actually look at the riders marquise williams college stats before saying too much. His senior year the tar heels finished the year 11-3 and ranked 15th in the US. Williams had a qb rating of 150.4, throwing 24 touchdowns to 10 ints. Williams career completion rate is 61.3.
Jenkins in comparison his final year, 11 tds 8 ints and a 113.3 rating. Im not saying jenkins isnt a good qb or cant be good in the cfl, but williams looks much better stats wise. Plus williams college was in a much higher ranked division in 2015 ( 6th). If i was given achoice, i would take williams over jenkins.
