Former Bombers’ offensive coordinator being interviewed by Alouettes

Gary Crowton is well known by Bombers followers, but he’s popped up in Montreal.

The former Winnipeg offensive coordinator is meeting with Kavis Reed on Wednesday.

Crowton was with the Bombers for one season, the team went 6-12 in 2012, and part of another. He was fired in mid-August 2013 by then-head coach Tim Burke.

“Our offence has not played up to their standards and we need to make this change in order to give us a chance at remaining in the hunt for the post season. I wish Gary all the best in his future endeavours,” Burke said about letting Crowton go.

The other pro coaching position Crowton has held was in Chicago where he was the Bears offensive coordinator in 1999 and 2000.

Currently he’s the offensive coordinator at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Joe mac and Gary crowton . Good luck with that

  2. Yikes , man poor Als, seems they are reaching a bit of desperation reading finding a HC, is it possible that Kavis gets turfed before Christmas in the hopes of finding a quality HC, but that still does not solve apparently Al’s numerous roster issues. Wow!!! sad to see realy.

Nobody seems to want to sail and sink with the “what say you” ship lmfao. I think it would be in the CFLs best interest if the Wettenhals sold that franchise before its too late.

There is such a thing as too many interviews. Is it possible Calvillo is a sticking point? Does he come with the new coaching staff or does the new HC have carte blanche on all the positions? I like Anthony & wish him the best but is he, for instance, ready for an OC position. I just don’t get all these interviews. Pick your top 5 or 6 & inteview them in depth. You don’t need to interview 20 guys. Although who knows with the Als.

    • Apparently something has all these fellows a bit spooked, hate to say it but maybe its Kavis telling the interviewies hey Durant is your unquestioned starter for 2018—- we will groom behind him a young guy!!! That plus other roster questions // Kavis himself having a questionable CV as a Coach/gm/ etc all combine to folks themselves being less enthusiastic about the position.

AC is not a sticking point. The HC Jon doesn’t come with the OC.

  5. Crowton isn’t being interviewed because nobody wants the job… Just another interview in the process of Kavis’s “science”. You are reading and believing posts from a site that published multiple times now that Marc Trestman replaced Marc Trestman in 2012.

This is starting to get ridiculous; I mean are they entertaining anyone who has touched the CFL? Or does it need to be subprime talent?

  7. “What say you” will be down to interviewing water boys soon! Part of the science lol

If Crowton is HC of 2018, Alouettes fold before the 2019 season.
