Redblacks extend QB Trevor Harris

The Ottawa Redblacks have re-signed quarterback Trevor Harris for the 2018 CFL season.

Harris finished tied for the CFL lead in touchdown passes with 30 and fourth in passing yards with 4,679 in the 2017 season, his first as the Redblacks’ full-time starting quarterback.

“Trevor was one of the top quarterbacks in the CFL last year and bringing him back was one of our top priorities this off-season,” Redblacks general manager Marcel Desjardins said in a statement. “We’re very pleased that Trevor will remain a Redblack moving forward.”

Harris recorded 3,301 passing yards and 16 touchdowns in his first season with Ottawa in 2016 while sharing quarterback duties with Henry Burris.

Prior to joining Ottawa, he spent four seasons in Toronto, starting 17 games with 33 touchdowns and 4,354 passing yards in 2015 in place of usual starter Ricky Ray, who missed half the year recovering from off-season shoulder surgery before returning as Harris’s backup.

Excellent QB and should have been nailed down to two-three seasons. I would rank him 3rd after Reilly, Ricky Ray and BLM.

    • You mean 4th then??? Guess stampeder fans can’t count. Just like they can’t count on BLM in the big game.

or the riders can’t count personnel on field goal attempts!

        • Good come back Donkey! All the way back to 2009…brilliant you are!

            OUCH!
            Clearly I stuck a chord!
            Still too soon?
Sorry but that is something that will NEVER be lived down. Not as long as you disrespect the best organization in the league with your petulance. lol I’ve never seen fans, players and coaches all cry like that.

      oops…meant 4th…dumb is right!

    • He threw 30 TD passes and if he hadn’t been injured he would’ve been the Number ONE QB in yardage and completins

Would of liked a longer term as well, but there will be a new agreement with CFLPA by then….more cap room perhaps

Well… There is another QB off the possible market. Look more and more like gangrene will be fielding Glean as their starter in 2018. Looks like the sliders will be last in the West in 2018.

Not even Christmas yet and the riders are almost out of viable options again. Jones must be on a beach somewhere. God knows he’s not at team headquarters like he should be

    • NO if you listened to his presser yesterday he is actually flying ot yet Another off season FA camp looking for potential talent to make his TEAM even better next year!!!! THEN after the weekend he takes two weeks off to relax with family and do his Christmas thing on his palacial estate viewing the beautiful Rocky TOP /// Smokey Mountains in Tennessee, then back to work. I guess only arrogant a**hats like Flufgnagel lay around on beaches while other teams are working !!!!! again I foresee some western cellar dwelling coming around the corner for the arrogant stampeders in the near future!!!!!

      • Just wondering. How many QB’s is he going to bring in this year to find “the next one”? As long as he goes with the status quo @ QB, the Riders are no better than the 4th ranked team in the West at that position. For all the good they did this year. Including beating all 4 Western teams handily, they were only 4-6 vs the West. The Riders peaked in games 7, 8 & 9 when they trounced BC, Edm & Wpg. The last half of the season they were 5-4 & lost handily to Wpg & to a healthy Edm in the final game which sent them to 4th & the crossover. Unless they get better QB play in 2018, they will struggle. Personally, IMO Bridge isn’t the answer. It’s automatic he will end up in Regina now – nowhere else for him to go as a starter. Bet on Als getting one of the TiCat QB’s & BC will stick with Jennings. Everyone else is set.

  6. The Riders have interest in one QB and that would be Bridge . The rotation of QB in riderville will switch to Bridge first and Williams or Adams , Glen is still under contract
