Alouettes tell Tommy Condell he won’t be next Montreal head coach

Another name has been put out of the running for Montreal’s head coaching job.

Condell had two interviews with the Alouettes but that’s as far as he got.

Condell won a Grey Cup with the Argos in 2017 after joining the club as a special advisor in January, then moving to receivers’ coach after Marc Trestman was hired as head coach. He spent 2016 out of football after unexpectedly resigning from the Ticats in April.

In his three years with the Ticats, Condell helped the team make two Grey Cup appearances.  In his final season, the Tiger-Cats had the CFL’s top-ranked passing offence and were second in points scored, despite starting four different quarterbacks  – Zach Collaros, Jeff Mathews, Jacory Harris, and Jeremiah Masoli –  due to injury.

  1. With Kavis in charge, how could things be anything but messed up?

I thought Tommy might be the guy, Reed must want Kerwin Bell…that would be a good choice as he has had success in NCAA
    Otherwise what about Orlando S?

  3. No way Orlando leaves that Fresno St team to coach that dumpster fire club. He will have better future options if his defense continues to improve like it did this year.

    • No question … his next stop is a Group of Five HC job or a Power 5 DC gig, both of which pay better than a CFL HC job.

  4. Your coach of the 2018 Montreal Alouettes… KAVIS REED!

Hey, what’s the worst that could happen?

  5. mid 2018 headline…
‘ Franchise Folds’ moves to Halifax….

  6. Kavis Reed…press conference….new Montreal HC is Mr. MacDonald…. former coach of the Port Perry grade 7 boy’s volleyball team

Drew Willy will start at QB with the deceased Ronny Lancaster backing-up

Mr. Mac Donald’s wife, starting RB

  7. the Argos’ attendance figures will look robust next to Montreal’s next year

maybe 5000 per game in a dilapidated stadium….was not long ago the Alouettes had a mere 2000 attending games in the cavernous Big O

Montreal sporting fans are too sophisticated for what’s happened in Quebec

a special teams coach (Kavid Reed) on a bumbling team does not a GM make

The Allwets Kavid Reed stiff arms Condell out of contention for head coach.

  9. Was Tommy Condell told he didn’t have the job before or after Mark Washington bowed out?

  10. Hope the Due diligence pays off for Reed and the Als. Wonder if Tom Clements who I hear might want to finoish his career as a coach in the CFL might get a shot at it. Getting outside the BOX might be best for the Als.

Is Kavis waiting for me to call?
