Former Ticat Erik Harris still sporting the Black and Gold

Erik Harris hasn’t suited up for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats since 2015 but he’s still repping the Ticats ‘gear in his current locker room.

Harris, now a defensive back and special teams ace with the Oakland Raiders, was interviewed this week while wearing his Black and Gold hoodie.

Harris has played 13 games for the Raiders this season, making five tackles after coming back from a torn ACL he suffered last year. He played four games for the New Orleans Saints in 2016 before getting hurt.

He was recently on the Pro Bowl ballot as a special teamer.

The 27-year-old played in 45 regular season games over three seasons with the Ticats, making 79 defensive tackles and another 27 on special teams. He also caught a touchdown pass. He stays in touch with a number of former teammates and coaches via social media.

Harris will spend Christmas playing Monday Night Football in Philadelphia against the Eagles. Sounds like the game made for some easy Christmas shopping…

And those twin boys that were born while Harris played for the Ticats? Yeah, they’re as cute as ever.

  1. Great high-tech talent! We Ti-Cats enjoyed and appreciated his play here. We Know the ONLY reason he left to go south, was $$$ but that’s what is about in a short playing career. Great guy even takes time out to acknowledge a tweet, which is seldom.

  2. Obviously proud of his days playing in Hamilton.
    Good on him!

Way to go Bud. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thanks for remembering and acknowledging the CFL.

  4. I’m happy for Erik… I’d love to see him back in the CFL but the guy has energy and skills and has made a niche for himself in the NFL. Great player, and great person.

  5. Thanks for this warm story Drew.
    A Merry Christmas story.

  6. Erik Harris exudes character… miss him in the CFL. Wishing the best for him and his family.

  7. Sounds like a great guy who appreciated his time with the TiCats and playing in the CFL. His time in the CFL got him the chance to play with BIG BROTHER ie: the NFL and shows as it has many times over the years that the CFL is a great stepping stone for the best of the best who want to try playing again south of the border.

Great article. I detest the NFL but this was the first time I went in and voted for someone in the Pro Bowl.

  11. Great to see another former CFLer that still shows appreciation for our league. Great story.

NIce to see a former Ticat in the NFL. I hope he has a good game on December 31, but I am still pulling for Philip Rivers and company to beat the Raiders
