Riders Most Outstanding Special Teams Players pens extension

Christion Jones broke the news of his extension days ago on Instagram.

The team made it official Wednesday that the 25-year-old is now under contract with the Riders through the 2019 season.

Jones returned 45 punts for 645 yards and two touchdowns and added 223 yards on 12 punt returns in the playoffs, including a 79-yard touchdown that put the Rides in the lead late in the fourth quarter of the Eastern Final but Ricky Ray led a last-minute drive to deliver an Argos victory.

After going undrafted in the 2015 NFL draft, he signed a free agent contract with the Dolphins, but got waived in the final cuts. Jones was in Argos training camp in 2016 but he was released after suffering an injury.

The dynamic return man was the Riders Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2017.

  1. This is a great signing for the riders. Go riders

  2. Some really good returners emerging in the league.

  3. Riders returner is the best in the league and he knows when to run one back at the timely moment. Others, like the guy in Calgary, are flash in the pans and will be gone before you know it.
